The Internal Auditor will provide
independent, objective assurance and advisory services aimed at improving
institutional operations. The auditor will assess the effectiveness of risk
management, internal controls, compliance, governance systems, financial
integrity, and performance monitoring across all departments.

Job Summary
The Internal Auditor plays a
critical role in:
- Evaluating financial and operational activities
- Strengthening internal controls
- Ensuring compliance with policies, laws, and regulatory
standards
- Supporting risk management and institutional governance
- Enhancing efficiency and performance reporting
- Providing insights and recommendations that promote a
culture of accountability and excellence
The role covers diverse functions
including procurement, financial management, academic administration, ICT
systems, research grants, student services, HR, and healthcare-related
operations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
A.
Audit Planning and Execution
- Contribute to developing a risk-based annual audit
plan tailored for a higher education and health environment.
- Identify and analyze risk areas including medical
procurement, student fee revenue, HR processes, and grants management.
- Prepare audit programs outlining objectives, scope, and
methodology.
- Execute fieldwork: interviews, process mapping,
transaction tests, and control evaluations.
- Verify accuracy of financial and operational records,
ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements.
B.
Reporting and Follow-Up
- Prepare audit documentation in line with IIA
Standards.
- Produce clear, comprehensive, and actionable audit
reports.
- Present findings and recommendations to management and
process owners.
- Monitor and follow up on management action plans to
confirm timely implementation.
C.
Advisory and Compliance Support
- Provide professional insight on new policies, systems,
and major projects.
- Assess the effectiveness of institutional policies to
ensure risk mitigation.
- Evaluate compliance with regulations from educational
authorities, healthcare bodies, and data protection frameworks.
- Support ethical governance by promoting integrity and
adherence to institutional codes of conduct.
D.
Special Investigations and Additional Assignments
- Participate in investigations involving fraud,
misconduct, or control breakdowns.
- Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate
efficient audit cycles.
- Keep current with best practices in internal auditing,
higher education management, and health sector compliance.
E.
Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Assurance
- Assess the adequacy of RHIH’s M&E frameworks across
academic and health programs.
- Validate accuracy and reliability of KPI reporting and
performance data.
- Conduct value-for-money audits to evaluate
efficiency and effectiveness of programs and projects.
- Assess whether programs are achieving desired outcomes
and identify improvement gaps.
- Review institutional reporting systems for accuracy,
timeliness, and usefulness.

Qualifications and Experience
Minimum
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or
Auditing
- At least 5 years’ experience in:
- Internal or external auditing
- Accounting & financial reporting
- Operational and risk-based audits
- Mandatory experience with QuickBooks
- Experience in higher education, health, or non-profit
sectors is an added advantage
Highly
Desirable Certifications
- CIA –
Certified Internal Auditor
- CPA, ACCA,
or equivalent
- Knowledge of IT auditing and data analytics tools
(e.g., ACL, IDEA, Power BI)

- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
(advanced Excel is a must)
- Good knowledge of policies, compliance frameworks, and
