Rwanda Women’s Network (RWN) is a leading national non-governmental organization
established in 1997, following the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. For
more than two decades, RWN has been a powerful voice in advancing gender
equality, women’s rights, and girls’ empowerment across Rwanda.

both urban and rural communities, RWN implements rights-based,
community-led programs addressing:
- Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response
- Women’s and girls’ leadership development
- Economic empowerment and social justice
- Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)
- Land, property, and inheritance rights
- Climate justice and environmental resilience
Through its flagship Women Safe
Spaces (WSSs), RWN provides safe and transformative environments where
women and girls access psychosocial support, leadership training, skills
development, and opportunities for collective advocacy.

the Girl Champion Program
RWN strongly believes that investing
in girls’ leadership today creates sustainable change tomorrow. The Girl
Champion Program empowers girls and young women from:
- Universities and higher learning institutions
- Women Safe Spaces (WSSs)
- Rural and underserved communities
The program builds leadership,
advocacy, life skills, and mentorship, enabling girls to become confident
change-makers in their communities.
A flagship innovation of the program
is girls’ photography and digital storytelling for climate justice,
where participants document climate change impacts, environmental challenges,
and community resilience. These visual narratives are used for:
- Community awareness and education
- National-level advocacy
- Engagement with decision-makers and policymakers
Position
Overview: Girl Champion Program Coordinator
Rwanda Women’s Network is seeking a
passionate and experienced Girl Champion Program Coordinator to provide
overall leadership, coordination, and strategic direction for the Girl Champion
Program.
The Coordinator will work closely
with girls and young women to strengthen leadership, advocacy skills,
mentorship structures, and creative storytelling, with a strong focus on climate
action and policy influence.
This role is ideal for a dynamic
professional committed to girls’ rights, gender equality, and youth-led
climate justice.
Key
Roles & Responsibilities
1.
Program Coordination & Implementation
- Coordinate Girl Champion Program activities across
universities and Women Safe Spaces
- Recruit, train, and mentor Girl Champions
- Design and facilitate leadership, advocacy, and
life-skills trainings
- Lead girls’ photography and digital storytelling
initiatives
- Organize workshops, exhibitions, mentorship forums, and
exchange sessions

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
- Track participation, outputs, and program outcomes
- Conduct regular field visits and community engagements
- Document success stories, impact narratives, and
lessons learned
- Prepare high-quality monthly, quarterly, and annual
reports

Advocacy, Networking & Representation
- Represent RWN in youth, gender, and climate justice
platforms
- Support girls-led advocacy campaigns and policy
dialogues
- Promote girls’ leadership and climate justice at local
and national levels
Required
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Gender Studies,
Development Studies, Education, Social Sciences, or a related
discipline
- At least 2–3 years of professional experience in
youth empowerment, girls’ programming, or community development
- Strong facilitation, training, coordination, and
communication skills
- Experience working with girls, young women, or
grassroots organizations is a strong asset
- Demonstrated commitment to gender equality, youth
leadership, and social justice
