This is a full-time, senior-level role based in Kigali, Rwanda, offering the chance to shape the food, beverage, inflight product, and lounge standards of a national airline recognized for its safety, efficiency, and customer service.

Position Overview

The Senior Manager – Catering Services & In-Flight Products will lead RwandAir’s entire inflight service strategy — from menu design to lounge experience, from supplier management to onboard retail innovation.

This role is ideal for someone who:

• Can innovate inflight products that delight passengers
• Can manage teams, suppliers, and budgets at a high level

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Manage In-Flight Product Concepts

• Curate menus, beverage programs, inflight products, and cabin amenities
• Tailor service concepts to passenger demographics and route profiles
• Enhance Business Class, Premium, and Economy Class experiences

2. Supplier Management & Contract Negotiation

• Manage catering vendors and negotiate contracts
• Ensure quality, safety, compliance, and cost optimization
• Monitor performance through SLAs and operational KPIs

3. Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement

• Streamline food production and delivery processes
• Reduce waste and enhance inventory efficiency
• Work with fleet teams on service-optimized cabin layouts

4. Compliance & Quality Assurance

• Ensure compliance with international aviation catering standards
• Conduct audits and maintain robust food safety procedures

5. Customer Insights & Innovation

• Use passenger feedback and benchmarking for continuous improvement
• Collaborate with Customer Experience and Marketing teams
• Lead innovation in onboard retail and lounge products

6. Leadership & Talent Development

• Manage and mentor catering and product teams
• Build national talent and ensure performance excellence

Minimum Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Aviation, or related field.

Minimum Experience Requirements

• At least 7 years of professional experience in airline catering, inflight service, or hospitality operations.
• Demonstrated success in product innovation and brand enhancement.
• Strong understanding of aviation catering regulations and food safety standards.
• Financial and analytical capability to manage budgets and drive cost efficiency.
• Prior experience in an airline environment is strongly preferred.
