About the Microfinance Accelerator Program (MAP)

The Microfinance Accelerator Program (MAP) strengthens Christian microfinance institutions (MFIs) for long-term, sustainable growth. MAP delivers a comprehensive framework that includes:

  • Professional training and consulting
  • Mentorship and peer learning
  • Grant support
  • Participation in a global MAP network

Through MAP, MFIs expand their outreach, strengthen operational excellence, and deepen their Christ-centered mission.

Position Summary: Operations Specialist – MAP

The Operations Specialist plays a strategic and hands-on role in designing, delivering, and continuously improving MAP’s learning and engagement initiatives. This role ensures that all training programs are high-quality, well-coordinated, data-informed, and aligned with MAP’s core curriculum and strategic objectives.

Beyond training operations, the specialist leads MAP Alumni engagement, cultivating strong relationships with senior leaders, facilitating peer learning, and organizing flagship programs such as workshops, summits, and the annual MAP Innovation Challenge.

This multifaceted role requires strong operational leadership, instructional design expertise, cross-cultural intelligence, and a deep commitment to Christ-centered development.

Key Responsibilities

1. Mission Alignment & Christian Witness

  • Actively promote and fulfill the mission and vision of HOPE International
  • Maintain a healthy spiritual balance across family, work, and church life
  • Model Biblical principles and integrate Christian witness intentionally into all aspects of MAP
  • Foster a Christ-centered organizational culture across global partnerships

2. Training Operations & Learning Excellence

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and trainers to design engaging, high-quality MAP training content
  • Ensure consistency and excellence across all MAP modules, presentations, and materials
  • Support translation of training materials using reliable translation tools
  • Coordinate logistics for both virtual and in-person training sessions
  • Manage participant communications before, during, and after training activities
  • Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external trainers
  • Support facilitators with materials, technology setup, and post-session follow-up

3. Monitoring, Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

  • Design and administer pre- and post-training surveys
  • Analyze learning outcomes, feedback, and performance data
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and learner engagement
  • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance retention and impact
  • Maintain a well-organized inventory of MAP training resources

4. Learning Management System (LMS) Oversight

  • Oversee the implementation and ongoing management of a new LMS
  • Upload, update, and organize training content within the LMS
  • Track learner progress and participation
  • Provide technical support and user training for LMS participants

5. MAP Alumni Engagement (25%)

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders of MAP Alumni MFIs
  • Identify high-performing alumni leaders to serve as peer mentors
  • Plan and execute alumni-focused programming, including:
    • Networking events
    • Advanced workshops and roundtables
    • Participation in MAP summits as speakers or facilitators
  • Facilitate peer learning through case studies, mentoring groups, and best-practice sharing
  • Design and manage the annual MAP Innovation Challenge, including grant awards
  • Maintain alumni databases and contact lists
  • Track alumni impact and collect testimonials for storytelling and reporting
  • Lead feedback loops to inform future MAP improvements

6. Event Planning & Logistics (15%)

  • Plan and execute MAP-related events such as:
    • Global and regional summits
    • Workshops and webinars
    • Quarterly meetings
  • Manage venues, travel arrangements, and hospitality
  • Coordinate vendors and service providers
  • Develop detailed event timelines, run-of-show documents, and materials

7. Relationship Building & Partner Management

  • Intentionally cultivate strong, God-honoring relationships with MAP partners
  • Strengthen collaboration between HOPE staff and partner institutions
  • Encourage lateral learning and peer connection across the MAP network
  • Ensure all relationships reflect HOPE’s Christ-centered values

Required Qualifications

  • Personal confession of faith in Jesus Christ
  • Strong alignment with HOPE International’s mission and values
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Demonstrated Christ-like humility, compassion, and empathy
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in training operations, program management, or instructional design
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and evaluation methodologies
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • High initiative, positivity, and commitment to operational excellence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills
  • International experience and cross-cultural competence
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in a second language (e.g., Spanish)
  • Experience in microfinance, nonprofit, or international development sectors
  • Experience with LMS platforms (e.g., Moodle, TalentLMS, Canvas)
  • Event planning and coordination experience
