About GiveDirectly Changing How the World Fights Poverty

GiveDirectly is one of the most innovative humanitarian organizations in the world, on a bold mission to end extreme poverty faster by delivering cash directly to people who need it most.

Since its founding in 2011, GiveDirectly has:

·       Raised over $1 billion in donor funding

·       Delivered direct cash transfers to more than 1.5 million people

·       Operated across 15 countries in Africa, Asia, and beyond

Unlike traditional aid models, GiveDirectly is built on evidence, dignity, and trust. Research from institutions such as the Brookings Institution shows that direct cash transfers are one of the most effective tools for closing the global poverty gap yet much of the aid sector still relies on outdated, unproven interventions.

GiveDirectly is changing that narrative and setting a new global benchmark for humanitarian assistance.

The organization has been featured in The New York Times Magazine, The Economist, Foreign Affairs, Fast Company, and This American Life, and continues to influence how donors, governments, and NGOs think about aid effectiveness.

Life & Culture at GiveDirectly
