Role Overview: Director of Product

Irembo is seeking an experienced, mission-driven Director of Product to own and scale its entire product portfolio. This role is designed for a visionary thinker with strong execution skills—someone who can build world-class digital platforms and guide cross-functional teams toward impactful outcomes.

As the Director of Product, you will:

• Architect the long-term product vision
• Translate company strategy into actionable product roadmaps
• Drive platform innovation
• Ensure product excellence and operational efficiency
• Deliver measurable business outcomes such as user adoption, retention, and satisfaction

This is a high-impact leadership role that directly shapes how citizens access essential digital services.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Vision & Strategy

• Translate the company’s overarching vision into a cohesive multi-product strategy.
• Build a compelling product direction aligned with user needs, market realities, and long-term value creation.

2. Portfolio Roadmap Ownership

• Lead and manage the product roadmap across all Irembo platforms.
• Prioritize initiatives that drive strategic and measurable impact.

3. Performance Measurement & OKRs

• Define clear success metrics for each product.
• Establish a strong OKR system to track progress and ensure accountability.

4. Product Innovation

• Champion a culture of innovation across the company.
• Identify new product opportunities within digital identity, payments, data, and public service delivery.

5. Cross-Functional Leadership

• Align engineering, design, operations, marketing, and business teams toward unified product goals.
• Improve communication, collaboration, and execution.

6. Team Leadership & Development

• Build and coach a high-performing product management team.
• Create a culture of accountability, excellence, and customer-centricity.

7. Operational Excellence

• Standardize and optimize the product development lifecycle.
• Implement scalable processes for discovery, execution, testing, deployment, and launch.

 

Experience & Skills Required

Irembo is looking for an entrepreneurial product leader with a balance of creativity, execution, and leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering or product management
• Significant leadership experience across multi-product portfolios
• Experience working on both B2B and B2C digital products
• Proven track record of scaling software platforms
• Strong stakeholder management and communication capabilities

Technical + Leadership Attributes

• Ability to connect insights from data, market trends, user needs, and business strategy
• Strong execution skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity
• Experience leading high-performance product teams
• Deep understanding of the full product lifecycle
• Experience building platform-oriented products (identity systems, payment platforms, foundational services, etc.)
