Position: Grants Compliance Officer

Location: Kigali, Rwanda
Employment Type: Full-Time
Duration: Until December 2029

As the Grants Compliance Officer, you will play a strategic role in safeguarding the integrity of grants, supporting donor relationships, and ensuring the financial sustainability of the organization.

Your Key Responsibilities

1. Grant Documentation & Compliance Management

  • Prepare and thoroughly validate supporting documentation for complex grants.
  • Ensure all financial data aligns with donor requirements and internal policies.
  • Maintain accuracy, completeness, and organizational standards across all documentation.

2. Maintain an Audit-Ready Grant Database

  • Build and maintain a centralized, organized repository of grant information.
  • Ensure documents remain easily traceable and accessible for internal and external audits.
  • Regularly review, update, and optimize document storage systems.

3. Lead Audit Engagements

  • Coordinate and lead the Grants Finance team in handling donor audits.
  • Prepare necessary documents, follow up on auditor requests, and ensure timely submissions.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and accuracy throughout audit processes.

4. Support Specialized Departmental Projects

  • Assist with ad hoc financial and grants-related initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of compliance systems, financial controls, and reporting tools.

Who They Are Looking For

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in:
    • Grant management
    • Donor reporting
    • Financial compliance
    • Audit support
    • NGO finance or similar fields

Core Skills

  • Advanced Excel proficiency, especially with complex spreadsheets.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.

Languages

  • English: Mandatory
  • French: Strong advantage
  • Kinyarwanda: Advantageous
