ABOUT THE ROLE: Investment Associate – Kirehe/Mahama
The Investment Associate is a core
member of the Inkomoko Access to Finance team. You will work directly with
entrepreneur clients, manage loans, lead due diligence, track repayments, and
support the loan portfolio performance in Mahama/Kirehe.
You will coordinate field
activities, maintain the investment system, and ensure borrowers receive the
financial support they need to thrive.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
Due Diligence & Investment Preparation (60%)
- Respond to inquiries from prospective borrowers
- Explain loan products, repayment responsibilities, and
investment procedures
- Conduct full business appraisals and credit assessments
- Verify client documentation (business info, guarantors,
ID documents, etc.)
- Perform site visits and investment eligibility checks
- Open new investment accounts and prepare all required
forms
- Build complete loan files for review
- Collect entrepreneur photos, stories, and consent for
Kiva fundraising
- Collaborate with BDS teams to ensure investment readiness
- Maintain strong internal controls and process workflows

Portfolio Management (20%)
- Maintain positive relationships with active borrowers
- Conduct follow-ups, field monitoring, and repayment
support
- Keep delinquency and default rates below annual
performance targets
- Track borrower repayment history and update records
- Participate in weekly Portfolio Review Meetings
- Coordinate with Finance and Admin for reconciliation
and invoicing
- Engage courts, local leaders, or authorities when
required
- Ensure compliance with lender/partner requirements

Investment Management System Oversight (20%)
- Record disbursements, repayments, and loan statuses
- Maintain accuracy of the investment management system
- Work with system providers to optimize performance
- Manage staff access permissions and account security
- Automate lending processes to improve turnaround time
- Prepare portfolio and system reports
- Train new staff on investment software usage
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Minimum
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics,
Accounting, or related field
- At least 3 years of experience in microfinance,
loan management, credit analysis, or MSE finance
- Fluent in English and Kinyarwanda
- Experience working with group lending products or
community savings groups
- Strong customer service skills and ability to manage
difficult conversations
- Familiarity with loan management systems (LMS)
- Ability to communicate firmly and professionally during
debt recovery
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy
- Experience working with legal procedures or civil court
systems (an added advantage)
