Job Description — What You Will Do
The Research Agronomist will lead and support extensive research and
development activities focused on pest management, agronomic trials, farmer
surveys, and IPM strategy. The role combines field experimentation, scientific
analysis, extension design, and organizational leadership.
1 Research & Field Experimentation
You will:
· Conduct
literature reviews & rapid evidence assessments
· Consult
experts to evaluate pest control technologies
· Design
and oversee on-farm experiments,
including:
o
Botanical pesticides
o
Improved seed varieties
o
Bio-controls
o
Micronutrients
o
Farmer-led innovations
· Support
data collection, trial monitoring, and analysis
· Lead
surveys on pest challenges and IPM adoption
· Contribute
to pest diagnostics, threat forecasting, and surveillance systems
2 Extension & Farmer-Facing Training
You will translate complex research insights into simple,
practical IPM tools:
· Develop
farmer-friendly IPM guidance
· Write
extension protocols and SOPs
· Create
decision-support tools for extension teams
· Pilot
and improve training materials using user-centered design (HCD)
3 IPM Strategy & Organizational
Leadership
You will help shape One Acre Fund’s IPM strategy through:
· Advocacy
for sustainable pest management

Required Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you must have:

or PhD in:

Related fields
Strong candidates typically hold a PhD OR an MSc with extensive field
experience.
Experience (Minimum 5+ Years)
· Leading
agricultural research projects

and managing field experiments

with diverse internal & external partners
· Experience
in African smallholder settings is a PLUS
