Introduction: Why This Job Opportunity Matters

In Rwanda’s rapidly growing economy, infrastructure development plays a vital role in shaping the future of industries, agriculture, and sustainable livelihoods. Among the companies leading this transformation is Kivu Choice, a modern aquaculture enterprise that has revolutionized fish farming in the Great Lakes region.

Kivu Choice isn’t just about fish — it’s about innovation, sustainability, and improving access to affordable protein for millions of people. The company’s impressive growth has created numerous employment opportunities for Rwandans who want to be part of something meaningful.

Currently, Kivu Choice is looking for a qualified and passionate Construction Foreman to join its team in Kagano, Nyamasheke District. If you are skilled in construction supervision, teamwork, and leadership, this could be the perfect role for you.

About Kivu Choice

Founded in late 2021, Kivu Choice Ltd has grown to become the largest aquaculture production and distribution platform in Rwanda. The company has built a strong reputation for producing and distributing high-quality fish products across Rwanda and neighboring countries.

Kivu Choice operates modern fish farms in multiple locations including Gisagara and Nyamasheke, as well as logistics and distribution centers across the Kivu Belt and Kigali. The company also exports fish to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and plans to expand into other regional markets.

 Mission and Vision

Kivu Choice’s mission is to be the most affordable, sustainable, and accessible source of protein in Africa. By combining innovative aquaculture techniques with a deep commitment to environmental stewardship, Kivu Choice supports food security, employment creation, and rural development across Rwanda.

This construction foreman role is part of that mission — ensuring that the physical infrastructure supporting aquaculture operations is built with excellence, safety, and sustainability.

About the Role: Construction Foreman

The Construction Foreman will play a critical leadership role on-site, assisting the Construction Manager in coordinating daily construction activities. This position requires someone who is both hands-on and strategic, able to manage workers, oversee progress, maintain safety, and deliver results on time.

As a Construction Foreman at Kivu Choice, you’ll be responsible for supervising site operations, monitoring work quality, ensuring safety compliance, and leading teams to complete construction projects efficiently. You’ll work closely with engineers, site supervisors, and other technical teams to ensure that construction sites meet the company’s high standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for professionals looking to advance their careers in civil engineering or construction management within a fast-growing and impact-driven company.

Key Responsibilities

The Construction Foreman’s duties are diverse and vital for the success of Kivu Choice’s infrastructure development projects. Below are your main responsibilities:

1. Site Supervision and Coordination

  • Oversee and coordinate day-to-day construction operations across multiple projects.
  • Ensure that all construction work follows approved designs, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Supervise construction crews, subcontractors, and laborers to ensure high productivity and compliance with project plans.
  • Provide clear guidance and direction to workers to maintain steady progress and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment at all times.

2. Quality Control and Safety Compliance

  • Monitor all ongoing construction work to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.
  • Enforce compliance with Rwandan construction codes, company safety policies, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the site to identify potential risks or hazards and implement corrective measures.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by leading toolbox talks and safety briefings for construction teams.

3. Planning and Resource Management

  • Assist the Construction Manager in organizing materials, tools, and labor needed for each phase of construction.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Prevent wastage of resources by implementing efficient material usage practices.
  • Track site progress and anticipate resource needs to avoid project delays.

4. Reporting and Documentation

  • Maintain daily site reports, including labor attendance, materials usage, work progress, and equipment movement.
  • Report any delays, design changes, or unexpected challenges to the Construction Manager.
  • Document project progress through photos, records, and logs for accountability and future reference.

5. Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead by example through discipline, dedication, and teamwork.
  • Motivate and guide site workers to perform tasks efficiently and safely.
  • Foster an environment of respect, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Identify training needs for workers and recommend skill development initiatives.
