Department: Credit Risk / Underwriting
Location: Headquarters (Rwanda)
Reports to: Head of Credit Underwriting (Director of Credit
oversight)
Equity Bank is currently seeking qualified and motivated individuals to
serve as:
· Retail
Credit Analyst
· Micro
Credit Analyst
· Social
Inclusion Analyst
These roles are crucial in ensuring that credit services reach individuals
and small businesses efficiently and responsibly.
Role Purpose
The selected candidates will support credit appraisal, underwriting,
and monitoring of retail and micro-borrower segments. You will review small-ticket
loans such as salary-based loans, group lending, working capital, and
micro-asset financing.
Your goal: to ensure every credit decision is sound, compliant, and
contributes to Equity’s vision of inclusive growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Credit Appraisal & Underwriting
· Review
and analyze retail and micro-credit applications (salary
loans, microbusiness loans, group loans).
· Assess
borrowers’ repayment ability using salary slips, bank statements, and
business records.
· Prepare
clear and concise credit proposals in line with BNR and RAAC
guidelines.
· Verify
collateral and guarantor adequacy as per product requirements.
2. Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Management
· Track
the performance of loan portfolios across retail and
micro-segments.
· Identify
early warning signals and potential credit risks.
· Contribute
to periodic portfolio reports and assist in remedial action
planning.
3. Client & Stakeholder Engagement
· Collaborate
with Relationship Officers, Branch Managers,
and Credit Committees.
· Provide
support to front-line teams in loan structuring and documentation.
4. Process & Governance
· Maintain
proper documentation and file completeness.
· Help
improve turnaround time (TAT) for loan processing.
· Uphold
transparency, ethical standards, and operational consistency.
Minimum Qualifications
To qualify for these positions, applicants must meet the following
requirements:
· Bachelor’s
degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
· At
least 2 years of experience in credit analysis, retail
lending, or microfinance.
· Strong
familiarity with BNR guidelines and consumer lending
regulations.
· Hands-on
experience with retail and micro loan files.
Core Competencies
· Strong
numeracy and analytical skills.
· Ability
to assess repayment capability from limited documentation.
· Excellent
report writing and communication abilities.
· Good
understanding of microfinance models and retail products.
· Strong
attention to detail and file management discipline.
Behavioral Skills
