Who Can Apply?

The 2025–2026 admission cycle is only open to:

  • Candidates who completed Senior Six (S6) in 2025.
  • Students who hold Equivalence Certificates from NESA dated 2025.

 Note: If you completed S6 before 2025, this call does not apply to you.

Minimum Entry Requirements

 However, the general rule is that admission is based on academic merit (your performance in the Advanced Level National Exams or as shown on your Equivalence).

 Tip: Since UR programs are competitive with limited slots, make sure you choose wisely based on your exam results and subject background.

Step-by-Step Guide to Apply Online

Follow these steps carefully to complete your UR application:

Step 1: Visit UR Website

Go to www.ur.ac.rw → Click on Admissions in the main menu.

Step 2: Start a New Application

  • Click “New Application” (for national applicants).
  • Fill in your biographical details to generate your:
    • Reference Number
    • PIN

Record these two details safely. You will need them throughout the process.

Step 3: Pay the Application Fee

  • Rwandans & EAC applicants: 5,000 RWF
  • Non-EAC applicants: 6,000 RWF

You can pay through:

Do NOT pay through BK Agents. Payments without the correct Reference Number will not be recognized.

Step 4: Wait for Confirmation

Wait 13 minutes after payment for the system to update.

Step 5: Choose Your Programs

Step 6: Submit Application

Follow the on-screen instructions until you see the submission confirmation.

Special Instructions for International & Equivalence Applicants

If you are an international student or applying with a NESA Equivalence, you must:

  1. Generate a Reference Number & PIN.
  2. Pay the application fee as indicated above.
  3. Upload required documents at: https://applications.ur.ac.rw/equivalence

·       Copy of valid Passport (international) or National ID (Rwandan)

·       Certified copy of your S6 Certificate
