Available Job Positions at Karongi District

1. 13 Positions – Foremen/Forewomen

Type: Part-Time
Location: Karongi District, Rwanda

Key Responsibilities

As a Foreman/Forewoman, you will be responsible for ensuring that construction activities in schools and public infrastructure meet the highest quality standards. Your duties will include:

·       Guiding masons and manpower by giving technical expertise based on MINEDUC standards and drawings.

·       Monitoring construction works to ensure compliance with norms and standards.

·       Reporting weekly and when required to the District and copying the Executive Secretary of the respective sector.

·       Taking care of all construction materials, tools, and equipment, and preparing utilization reports.

·       Recording daily works and materials used on site.

·       Maintaining ethical conduct and confidentiality during and after the contract.

·       Submitting daily site progress reports via SMS to the District School Construction Engineer and/or MINEDUC Field Officer.

·       Ensuring compliance with Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMP) and safeguard requirements.

·       Supporting grievance redress mechanisms at the site level.

Qualifications Required:

·       Advanced Diploma in Building & Construction / Construction Technology / Building & Construction Technology (No prior experience required).

·       A2 Certificate in Construction Technology (No prior experience required).

This means that fresh graduates with relevant diplomas are encouraged to apply.

2. Topographer (1 Position)

Type: Full-Time
Location: Karongi District, Rwanda

Key Responsibilities:

As a Topographer, you will play a key role in landscape restoration and environmental protection. Your duties will include:

·       Guiding communities in implementing landscape restoration activities (radical terraces, progressive terraces, tree planting, trench excavation, etc.).

·       Producing reports on catchment rehabilitation and soil erosion control (daily, weekly, and monthly).

·       Monitoring manpower attendance and producing attendance lists for payments every 15 days.

Qualifications Required:

Candidates must hold one of the following degrees/diplomas with relevant years of experience:

·       Degree in Surveying and Geomatics Engineering (2 years of experience).

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying, Topography, Agriculture Sciences, or Public Works (1 year of experience).

·       Advanced Diploma (A1) in Public Works, Surveying, or Land Surveying (3 years of experience).

Key Competencies:

·       Expertise in land surveying.

·       Strong time management, organization, and coordination skills.

·       Decision-making and judgment abilities.

·       Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

·       Fluency in Kinyarwanda, English, and/or French (knowledge of Swahili is an added advantage).
