Introduction

Are you a final-year ICT student or recent graduate in Rwanda eager to kick-start your global tech career?  The AmaliTech Apprenticeship Programme 2025 is here to transform your skills and prepare you for international opportunities in software development, data engineering, and other high-demand areas.

This 6-month, full-time apprenticeship offers free advanced training, mentorship, and hands-on project experience — all while providing a stipend, meals, and a laptop. Supported by DEG, this initiative is more than just training — it’s a career launchpad for future software engineers in Africa.

AmaliTech is a social enterprise headquartered in Cologne, Germany, with thriving service centers in Ghana and Rwanda. The organization’s mission is to bridge the digital skills gap by training African graduates and connecting them to remote IT projects for international clients.

Apprenticeship Specialisation Tracks

AmaliTech offers six career-defining specialisations. Here’s what you can expect:

1. Data Engineering

  • Must Have: Basic SQL, Python fundamentals, and data concepts.
  • Nice to Have: Visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau), ETL, cloud (AWS/Azure), PySpark.

2. Python Backend + AI App Development

  • Must Have: Python OOP, APIs, Git.
  • Nice to Have: Flask/Django basics, beginner AI/ML skills.

3. Java Backend

  • Must Have: Core Java, OOP, CRUD databases, Git.
  • Nice to Have: Spring Boot, IDE familiarity (Eclipse/IntelliJ).

4. Quality Assurance (QA)

  • Must Have: Test cases, API testing tools (Postman), Jira/Trello.
  • Nice to Have: JMeter, performance testing, CI/CD knowledge.

5. JavaScript Full Stack

  • Must Have: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript ES6+, React/Angular/Vue, Node.js basics, SQL/NoSQL, Git.
  • Nice to Have: Jest/Mocha testing, OAuth/JWT, cloud deployment (Vercel, Netlify).

6. DevOps

  • Must Have: Linux command line, Git/GitHub.
  • Nice to Have: Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), CI/CD pipelines.

 

Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)

To join the AmaliTech Apprenticeship Programme, applicants should:

  • Be a final-year student or recent graduate in Computer Science, IT, Data Science, or related fields.
  • Have at least 6 months of practical programming experience (projects, internships, hackathons, online courses).
  • Be available to commit full-time for 6 months.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Be fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Show passion for technology and continuous learning.

 

Recruitment Process

Here’s how the selection works:

  1. Application Review – Screening of candidates’ profiles.
  2. In-Person Assessment – Testing technical and problem-solving abilities.
  3. Technical & Behavioural Interview – Evaluating both coding and soft skills.
  4. Offer Stage – Selected candidates receive offers to join the programme.
