Samsung Dream Scholarship Foundation Global Scholarships

Access fully supported global scholarships, leadership development, mentoring, and education funding designed for high-potential students and underserved communities across Africa, Asia, Europe, and beyond.

Millions of talented students and communities around the world are held back not by lack of ability but by lack of access. Our programs are designed to close that gap through globally trusted scholarship funding, leadership development, mentoring, and educational support across Asia, Africa, Europe, and beyond.

Introduction: Why “What We Do” Matters More Than Ever

Every year, millions of capable students are forced to abandon their academic dreams, not because they lack intelligence or ambition, but because opportunity is unevenly distributed.

Some are born into countries where education is underfunded.
Some face financial hardship that makes tuition impossible.
Some lack mentorship, networks, or exposure to global leadership pathways.

This is where our work begins.

Our mission is simple but powerful:
to transform potential into impact by expanding access to education, leadership, and global opportunity.

Through a structured ecosystem of scholarship funding, mentoring, leadership creation, and educational support, we work with top global universities, foundations, and nonprofit partners to ensure that talent not geography or income determines success.

This page explains what we do, who our programs are for, how they work, and how students and organizations can take action today.

Our Core Programs at a Glance

We operate four integrated, high-impact initiatives:

·       Global Scholarship Program

·       Mentoring Scholarship Program

·       Leader Creation Scholarship Program

·       Educational Support Program

Each program addresses a different stage of educational and professional development—together forming a complete global opportunity pipeline.

Global Hope Scholarship Program

Expanding Access to World-Class Education

The Global Hope Scholarship Program is our flagship initiative, designed to support high-achieving students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds who are pursuing undergraduate or graduate studies at leading universities in South Korea.

This program goes beyond tuition assistance. It is built to nurture academic excellence, social responsibility, and future leadership.

Who Can Apply: Qualification Criteria Explained Clearly

To maintain fairness, transparency, and global diversity, applicants must meet all eligibility requirements below.

1. Nationality Requirement (DAC ODA List)

Applicants must be citizens of a country listed on the OECD DAC List of ODA Recipients.

This includes many countries across:

·       Africa

·       Asia

·       Parts of Latin America and developing regions

This requirement ensures the program supports students from regions with limited access to educational funding.

2. Financial Need

Applicants must demonstrate financial difficulty in funding their education independently.

This does not mean extreme poverty it means:

·       Tuition, living costs, or academic expenses create a real barrier

·       Family or personal income is insufficient to sustain education long-term

3. Academic Excellence

We support students who have already proven their academic capability.

This includes:

·       Strong GPA or class ranking

·       Academic awards or honors

·       Clear motivation and consistency in academic performance

4. Korean Language Requirement (TOPIK)

All applicants must have at least TOPIK Level 2.

This ensures:

·       Basic academic and social integration

·       Ability to participate in university and foundation activities

5. Commitment to Social Contribution

Scholarship recipients are expected to:

·       Participate in volunteer activities

·       Engage in social contribution initiatives

·       Support community-based projects when required

This program is not only about receiving support it is about giving back.

6. Participation in Foundation Activities

Applicants must be willing to:

·       Attend foundation-hosted events

·       Join leadership, mentoring, or community programs

·       Act as ambassadors of ethical global citizenship

How to Apply: University-Based Recommendation System

A Trusted, Quality-Controlled Process

Applications to the Global Hope Scholarship Program are not submitted individually.

Instead, students must be recommended by partner universities.

This ensures:

·       Academic credibility

·       Institutional accountability

·       Fair selection standards

Eligible Partner Universities

Recommendations are accepted only from the following institutions:

·       Chungang University

·       Chungnam National University

·       Dongguk University

·       Ewha Womans University

·       Handong University

·       Hankuk University of Foreign Studies

·       Hanyang University

Important Capacity Limits (Very Important)

·       Each university has a fixed number of scholarship slots

·       A new slot opens only when a current scholar graduates
